Over 92% of Chinese Tourists Prefer to Stay in Hotels that Provide Chinese Language Television Programs

According to a study done by Los Angeles Chinese Learning Center in May 2006, Chinese tourists traveling abroad prefer to stay in hotels that provide Chinese language television programs.

In this study, 500 questionnaires were randomly sent out to Chinese tourists in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Las Vegas.  In 372 questionnaires that were returned to us, 92.5 of the Chinese tourists indicated that they would prefer to stay in hotels that provide Chinese language television programs.  7.5% of them indicated that they do not care.

When asked about how they were satisfied with their experiences of visiting the United States, 65% of them claimed that they were extremely satisfied at their services.  25% of them complained that most of the hotels did not provide hot water, and 10% of them complained about language and communication problems.

According to Los Angeles Chinese Learning Center, the questionnaires were given to Chinese travel agencies in the United States, whom arranged hotels for these Chinese tourists.

"Currently, only a handful of hotels in Los Angeles that offer Chinese language television programs for our Chinese tourists," says Tom Ye, president of Best Service Chinese Travel Agency. "We hear the complaints, and we are currently trying to arrange an agreement with hotels that provide Chinese TV programs."

"Most of these hotels are frequently packed by Chinese tourists, especially during high seasons." says John Mak, manager of a Chinese travel agency in Los Angeles.

"With more and more Chinese coming to the US, hotels are increasingly willing to consider adding Chinese TV programs for their Chinese speaking guests." concluded Betty Hou, directory of this study.
