General Information

Hong Kong Company Registry is formally known as "Hong Kong Companies Registry".  Hong Kong Companies Registry is responsible for providing services to incorporate local Hong Kong companies and register oversea companies; register the documentation required by the various ordinances administered by the department, principally the Companies Ordinance of Hong Kong; providing services and facilities for inspecting and obtaining company information and image records of registered documents, as well as ensuring compliance by companies and their officers with their obligations under the relevant ordinances. Hong Kong Companies Registry aims to achieve world-wide recognition as an excellent Companies Registry giving the community a quality service and strengthen Hong Kong's position as one of the most business friendly jurisdictions in the world.

Role of the Hong Kong Companies Registry

• To provide facilities to allow the promoters of Hong Kong companies, limited partnerships, trust companies and registered trustees to incorporate their enterprises easily and to register all documentation required by the various Hong Kong Companies Ordinances governing those enterprises.
• To provide Hong Kong public with facilities to search for the information held by the Hong Kong Companies Registry.
• To ensure compliance by enterprises and their officers with their obligations under relevant Hong Kong Companies Ordinances.
• To advise Hong Kong Government on policy and legislative issues regarding Hong Kong company law and related legislation.
• To achieve all the aims described above in an efficient and effective manner and to provide services within time frames and at prices which are acceptable to our customers.
