Introduction of the Tanzania Stock Market

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) was incorporated in September 1996.

As of April, 2007, the Tanzania stock market, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange has 8 listed companies.

The Tanzania currency, the Tanzania Shilling, has remained relatively stable in the last three years, with a little depreciation against the US dollar.

TOL LIMITED (TOL) - Principal activities of Tol Limited are: Production and distribution, of Air Separation Unit (ASU) products i.e. oxygen, nitrogen, Dissolved Acetylene (DA), carbon dioxide, welding equipment and accessories, medical gases and equipment. TOL has three production sites situated in Dar es Salaam, which is dedicated to ASU products and acetylene; Mwanza, which is dedicated to DA; and Kyejo in Rungwe District, which produces carbon dioxide.

TANZANIA BREWERIES LIMITED (TBL) - Principal activities of Tanzania Breweries Limited are productions, marketing, distribution and sale of malt beer and alcoholic beverages in Tanzania.

TANZANIA TEA PACKERS LIMITED (TATEPA) - Principal activities of Tanzania Tea Packers Limited are the blending, packaging, distribution and sale of tea and coffee products in Tanzania.

TANZANIA CIGARETTE COMPANY LIMITED (TCC) - Manufacture, marketing and distribution of cigarettes in Tanzania

TANGA CEMENT COMPANY LIMITED (SIMBA) - Manufacture, sale and marketing of cement throughout Tanzania and East Africa.

DAR ES SALAAM AIRPORTS HANDLING COMPANY LTD (DAHACO) -Provision of the range of airport ground handling services comprising passenger, ramp and cargo handling. Dar es Salaam Airports Handling Company Ltd. also provides clearing and forwarding of both air and sea freight.

KENYA AIRWAYS LIMITED (KA) Provision of passenger and cargo freight carriage to International and regional destinations and other airline related businesses.
