REALTORS® Settle in to New Home
By Lee Lieberg

February 15, 2008

It was with great fanfare that the West San Gabriel Valley Association of REALTORS® cut the ribbon to celebrate the grand opening of their new office. On February 8, planned to coincide with their annual Lunar New Year event, the Association hosted over 400 dignitaries, civic leaders and real estate professionals.

Among the dignitaries, were Dr. Judy Chu, Chair of the State Board of Equalization, who was awarded the responsibility of cutting the ribbon, Assemblyman Mike Eng and Alhambra Council Member Stephen Sham. Association president Arthur Shu welcomed all in attendance as dragons danced, proclamations were read and lunch was served.

The WSGVAR had been pointing to this day for several years as the decision to sell the former building had been made and a new location had been sought. Arthur Shu stated, “This is a great day in the history of our Association, with a new hi-tech office, we will offer more support to our members, enabling us as REALTORS® to better serve our clients.”

The senior member of the Association’s Board of Directors, Tom Berge said, “We’ve come a long way since a few REALTORS® formed the “Alhambra District Board of REALTORS®” to serve the REALTORS® in Alhambra and the four surrounding towns. Our new state of the art location will bring members the latest in meeting and training facilities which will be used by REALTORS® throughout the San Gabriel Valley.”

Tom Berge added that, “While the current real estate market is experiencing one of its periodic dips, our Association has not suffered a large drop in membership due to good service to its members.” The Association is 85 years old and has over 1800 members. Vicky Kammeraad is the Association Executive, leading a full time staff of seven.

The new Association of REALTORS® office is located at 1039 E. Valley Blvd., Ste. 205B and the phone number will remain (626) 288-6212.
