NuGene skin care creams include NuGene Revewing Night Cream, NuGene Eye Contour Cream, and NuGene Skin Resurfacing Cream. The active ingredients of NuGene Eye Contour Cream include EGF, IGF-1, bFGF, TRX, aFGF, Copper Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 EGF: Epidermal growth factor or EGF is a growth factor that plays an important role in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation and differentiation. EGF acts by binding with high affinity to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) on the cell surface and stimulating the intrinsic protein-tyrosine kinase activity of the receptor. The tyrosine kinase activity in turn initiates a signal transduction cascade which results in a variety of biochemical changes within the cell - a rise in intracellular calcium levels, increased glycolysis and protein synthesis, and increases in the expression of certain genes including the gene for EGFR - that ultimately lead to DNA synthesis and cell proliferation. (NuGene creams contain EGF) IGF-1: Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a single-chain
polypeptide of 70 amino acids. It is a trophic factor that circulates at
high levels in the blood-stream and mediates many, if not most, of the
effects of growth hormone. Although the main source of IGF-1 in the serum is
the liver, many other tissues synthesize it and are sensitive to its trophic
action. IGF-1 was called somatomedin in the older literature. IGF-1 and
insulin have similar three-dimensional structures. bFGF: Basic fibroblast growth factor, also known as bFGF or FGF2,
is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. TRX: Thioredoxins are proteins that act as antioxidants by facilitating the reduction of other proteins by cysteine thiol-disulfide exchange. Thioredoxins are found in nearly all known organisms and are essential for life in mammals. (NuGene creams contain TRX) aFGF: Acidic fibroblast growth factor. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein functions as a modifier of endothelial cell migration and proliferation, as well as an angiogenic factor. It acts as a mitogen for a variety of mesoderm- and neuroectoderm-derived cells in vitro, thus is thought to be involved in organogenesis. Three alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been described. (NuGene creams contain aFGF) Copper Tripeptide-1: Utilized by every cell, assisting in tissue repair and stimulating new collagen formation. It is the third most abundant trace mineral element in the body. (NuGene creams contain Copper Tripeptide-1) Acetyl Hexapeptide-3: Acetyl Hexapeptide 3 (also known as
Argireline ) At a 10% concentration, Acetyl Hexapeptide 3 has been shown to reduce the depth of wrinkles up to 30% after 30 days of trial use. (source: International Journal of Cosmetic Science, Vol. 24, No 5, p.303, October 2002). Currently, doctors are beginning to recommend use of Acetyl Hexapeptide 3 skin serums in conjunction with paralytic injections to prolong those results. (NuGene creams contain Acetyl Hexapeptide-3) |
