Nature of Complaint:
The attorney Mr. Barry Fischer ABA# 122412 refuses to pay for Mandarin interpretation cost that we performed on August 9, 2006 at his office located at 1925 Century Park East, Suite 500, Los Angeles, CA 90067 despite 11 phone calls (no call backs) and more than 4 faxes that I sent to at his fax number 310-488-0770.
Details:
On August 9, 2006, Mandarin certified interpreter Ms. Yining Liu (Certification No. 301080) that our company hired performed an interpretation at Mr. Fischer’s office at 10:00am. The cost for the bill as of September 19, 2006 was $653.4 for the 2 hour deposition as well as late fees. (Invoice available upon request)
It was understood from attached email between Mr. Fischer’s assistant Min and us that the payment would come from Mr. Fischer’s office after the performance of the service.
We contacted Mr. Fischer for more than 11 times and left numerous messages. However, we never received call backs from him nor his assistant.
On the 12th time, in October, we finally were able to speak with Mr. Fischer, and he complained about Ms. Liu, a certified interpreter,’s performance. At my request, he sent us a fax detailing the details of the problems occurred during the deposition. However, he then said that the payment would come from his client, Mr. David Zhou.
We then waited for the payment from Mr. Zhou (Tel: 760-244-2354), but it never arrived. The agreement was made between Abacus Consulting Services and Mr. Barry Fischer’s Office. Therefore, it was our understanding that the payment should come from Mr. Barry Fischer’s office.
Finally, we learned that Mr. Fischer is refusing to pay us for the Mandarin interpretation service performed by the court certified interpreter. Therefore, we are making this complaint.
Sincerely,
Abacus Consulting Services |

It was confirmed today from the attorney at the above the law firm that
Suhua Yan (AKA Catherine Yan, or Yan, Su Hua) of Nanhai New ATT Shoes-Making Ltd. paid less amount of the originally agreed amount to our certified court interpreter.
We certified interpreters worked hard for passing the exam. However, Suhua Yan (AKA Catherine Yan, or Yan, Su Hua) of Nanhai New ATT Shoes-Making Ltd. did not abide to the original agreement, made several changes to her original statements/agreements, and claimed mistakes in interpretation, and refused to pay the full amount for the interpretation cost.
All interpreters should report what happened to the presiding judge. This is the action that we might consider to do in the future. |
