The Plot

An ancient sorcerer by the name of Lo Pan is among the living in Chinatown, San Francisco.  Two thousand years ago, the curse of no flesh was bestowed upon him.  In order to break this curse he must marry a girl with green eyes to appease his demon, and then murder her to appease his emperor.  The plot begins to unfold when the green-eyed girlfriend of Wang Chi is kidnapped by the Lords of Death, a Chinatown street gang.  Wang enlists the help of his good friend Jack Burton to help him get her back.

The Characters

Jack Burton (Kurt Russell)- A truck driver who visits his friend Wang while making a delivery to Chinatown.  He helps his good friend out in his time of need, but he's only in it to get his truck back, which was also taken by the Lords of Death.  Wang also owes him money, and Jack wants that as well.

Wang Chi (Dennis Dun)- A Chinatown restaurant owner who worked his fingers 'til they bled to bring his sweetheart to America.  Obviously she gets kidnapped, and naturally Wang wants to get her back.

Egg Shen (Victor Wong)- A wealthy Chinatown resident who also drives a tour bus.  Like Lo Pan, he is also a powerful sorcerer, but Egg is a good guy.  He caries all sorts of neat, magical gadgets around with him that allow him to see things no one else can see, and do things that no one else can do.

Gracie Law (Kim Cattrall)- A lawyer who apparently has a vendetta against David Lo Pan.  She is an over-dramatic person who has a knack for explaining plot lines.  She also has green eyes, so Lo Pan decides to marry her as well, so that he can sacrifice Gracie Law to appease his emperor and live out his earthly pleasures with Miao Yin.

Lo Pan (James Hong)- He is an evil sorcerer who has to marry a girl with green eyes and sacrifice her in order to remove his curse of no flesh.

David Lo Pan- A wealthy Chinatown businessman.  This is just a front, however, because he is actually Lo Pan, the evil sorcerer.  Being stricken with the curse of no flesh, David Lo Pan lives in seclusion, and only his minions have ever set eyes upon him.  He appears to be a decrepit old man, who Jack Burton referred to as a 'basketcase on wheels', but he can transform at will into the spirit of his former self.

Eddie Lee (Donald Li)- He's the maitre'd at Wang's restaurant.  He got into some action in the movie, but was removed from it later on.  He has a crush on Margo.

Margo (Kate Burton)- She's a reporter whose only function in the movie seems to act as a complimentary to the Gracie Law character.  She does have one of the great lines, however: "...I must be just so monumentally naive."

Uncle Chu (Chao Li Chi)- Wang's uncle.  He seems to be a Chinese history buff.  His purpose in the movie is to help Egg explain details of the plot, such as who Lo Pan is.

Miao Yin (Suzee Pai)- This babe is what all of the hoopla is about.  She kiddnapped by the Lords of Death and later re-kidnapped by the storms.

Thunder (Carter Wong)- One of the three storms.  He seems to be Lo Pan's right hand man.  He seems cute and cuddley, but don't make him angry; he just might explode!

Rain (Peter Kwong)- Another storm.  He just loves to torture people in the most horrible ways.  His trademark torture method is little red foam rubber balls.  Later on, Nerf came out with a gun that shoots such balls.  Coincidence?...I think not.  Rain also enjoys sword fighting and has an extensive back-scratcher collection.

Lightning (James Pax)- That makes three storms.  Lightning is filled with an excess amount of static electricity.  He shoots lightning all over the place hoping that he could get his spikey hairdo to lay flat.

Tara (Min Luong)- A shy Chinese girl whose only purpose in the movie is to bring the Gracie Law character into the plot.

The Lords of Death- A Chinatown streetgang.  These punks are the ones responsble for the original kidnapping Miao Yin and stealing Jack Burton's truck.

The Wing Kong- Mean gang of thugs who are under the command of Lo Pan himself.

The Chang Sing- The good gang of thugs.  All these guys do is fight, have funerals, flash gang signs, and bite the heads off of dead fish.

The Wing Kong Babes- These chicks serve as guards to Lo Pan's women's prison.  They beat up on Wang and Eddie for a while before finally being defeated.

The Wing Kong Security Guards- These security guards are liscensed to carry automatic weapons.

The Gorilla Monster (Noble Craig)- This is really more of a monster than it is a gorilla, but I don't know what else to call it.  This is the dude that is responsible for kidnapping Gracie.

The Guardian- A rather disgusting creature with several eyes that floats around aimlessly.  What it sees, Lo Pan knows.

Egg Shen's Lawyer (Jerry Hardin)- He and Egg set the stage in the beginning of the movie.

Mrs. O'Toole (Noel Toy)- The receptionist at the White Tiger whorehouse.

The White Tiger (June Kim)- The madame at the White Tiger whorehouse.
